Babcock University 2017 Screening For Direct Entry Candidates Who Applied For Nursing
parent and candidates Panic Over unreleased Jamb Results
Two weeks after sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination , candidates who have yet to know their results have expressed worries.
Some of the candidates who spoke with our correspondent from different parts of the country on Monday claimed to have written the examination 14 days ago and had been checking the results online without success .
One of the candidates , who said she sat for the examination in the Oremeji area of Lagos State , urged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board to release her result.
The candidate , who does not want to be identified, said , “I am now worried because there was no incident on that day and my friends who sat for the same examination already have their results . I have been checking since Thursday last week and what comes out is, ‘ You do not have any result yet ’ . I am worried because no school will offer me admission without my UTME score . ’’
Also , a candidate , who sat for the examination at the Kemade Highflyers Academy, Ile - Ife , Osun State , said it had been a traumatic experience for her having to wait when many others had seen their results .
“ This is actually my second time of attempting the UTME . I was 15 years old last year and my score was 220 , but I could not gain admission because of my age . I am having my pre - degree programme right now at the Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile -Ife , and I need this result for admission . I am frustrated and I want to appeal to JAMB to release my result , ’’ she said .
Similarly, another candidate who sat for the examination in Esa Oke, Osun State , said it was unfair for his result to be withheld by JAMB .
He said , “ I thought I was the only one affected until I saw some of my friends in town complaining about the same thing . I don ’ t know why the result has not been released and JAMB is saying that all results have been released . They should just tell us what is going on . ”
However , the Registrar , JAMB , Prof . Is- haq Oloyede, in a text message to our correspondent, hinted that there might be more to the unreleased results .
“ After investigation, we shall release ( results ) for the innocent and punish the guilty , ’’ he said.
jamb reveal the school that lead examination malpractice in Abia state
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board has accused a missionary school in Abia to have been involved in examination malpractice in the course of the recently held exam across the Nation.
The head, media and information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Tuesday, said, "A very disturbing and unfortunate case is that of a school in Abia where cables were seen to have been connected secretly to a distant hall for hired mercenaries to write for candidates.
"This is very unfortunate given the fact that the school is a missionary school and supposed to be a leading light against such vices.
"But, rather, it was conniving, supporting and indeed championing the evil course of examination malpractice," Benjamin said in the statement."
He said such results would be treated in accordance with the provision of the law.
Benjamin said results of the just concluded 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination had since been released, with a few others still being reviewed.
He said, "We want to appeal to Nigerians to understand that such candidates whose results are being reviewed may not necessarily have participated in any malpractice.
"But rather, centres, where they sat for the examination, had issues during the conduct of examination.
"These issues were reflected on the CCTV footage and this suggests why they must be carefully investigated before releasing such results."
According to him, a task force has been inaugurated by the Registrar of the Board, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, to look into all such issues and has since concluded the review of the CCTV footages and other evidence presented.
He said that the task force would forward its reports to the appropriate quarters for the scrutiny and onward release of all remaining results.
"We urge candidates to note that no result will be withheld without a cogent reason as this explains why we are taking time to ensure that those who are innocent are exonerated.
"Again, candidates are advised not

we have not Announced 2017 Admission cut off mark - Jamb
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation
Board, JAMB, says it has yet to release cut-off marks for placements into tertiary institutions for the 2017 academic year.
Head, Media and Information, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, in a statement on Tuesday, said that the policy committee meeting responsible for the marks had not met.
“We want to appeal to all candidates to jettison such speculations and engage themselves in more meaningful ventures that would add value to their future,’’ he said.
Benjamin said results of the just concluded 2017 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination had since been released, with a few others still being previewed.
“We want to appeal to Nigerians to understand that such candidates whose results are being previewed may not necessarily have participated in any malpractice.
“But rather, centres where they sat for the examination had issues during the conduct of examination.
“These issues were reflected on the CCTV footage and this suggests why they must be carefully investigated before releasing such results,” he said.
The official said a school in Abia was discovered to have connected cables secretly to a distant hall for hired mercenaries to write for candidates.
“This is very unfortunate given the fact that the school is a missionary school and supposed to be a leading light against such
vices.
“We urge candidates to note that no result will be withheld without a cogent reason as this explains why we are taking time to ensure that those who are innocent are
exonerated.
“Again, candidates are advised not to patronise any centre, office or shop for any service; please visit our offices in all the 36 states of the Federation and FCT for any
complaint, enquiry or assistance.
“This is also because our attention has also been drawn to an illegal centre being operated near our Ikoyi Office in Lagos with the aim of defrauding innocent candidates.
“This centre collects all kinds of fees in cash for services that are even free. The general public should note that payments for any of our services are done via our TSA account with CBN and not cash.”

UTME 2017: Why The Results Of Some Candidates Won't Be Released –Jamb Boss
Examination body, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board on Thursday states that the results of candidates identified in footages of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) to have indulged in unwholesome practices during the just-concluded Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) won't be released.
Registar of JAMB, Ishaq Oloyede, who spoke on Channels Television Sunrise Daily said the agency had been busy in the past days reviewing recorded footages of the examination across the country, and that a number of candidates had been marked out for sanction.
Oloyede, was responding to a question by one of the anchors of the programme on why some candidates were yet to receive their results despite promises by JAMB to release outcomes within 24 hours.
The registrar said, “Those who have not received (their results) are qualified not to receive for now. In all cases where there were no problems, we released results of the examination within 24 hours.
“But those who have not (received their results), they may not be culpable but we are investigating. Where we have reason to doubt anything or where we have report of anything that is not acceptable to us, we have withheld the results.
“And we will keep on releasing them as we clear them. For instance, this morning, we released another 15,000 results. But among those who sat in that centre, we have reasons, concrete evidence to say about 300 of them, their results will not be released because we know they were not in the hall where the examination took place.
“We are comparing those who sat for the examination, how long they sat in the hall, and how some of them took excuses that they were going to the toilet only to go to what they called VIP…
“All this we are now able to track. And we want to say that we will not hesitate to sanction anybody no matter how highly placed.”
Mr. Oloyede said the CCTV cameras deployed at every Computer Based Test (CBT) centres across the country helped JAMB to detect and arrest unwholesome practices.
He said some centre operators however tried to sabotage his agency’s plan to make the examination fraud-free, citing the example of a centre in Kubwa, Abuja, where operators blinded the cameras with sacks to frustrate remote detection of malpractices that happened there.
The JAMB registrar appealed to credible organisations and individuals to come forward to partner JAMB in the establishment of reputable CBT centres across the country.
“Crooks are now establishing CBT centres, and meeting our requirements only to misuse the opportunities,” he said.
How To Go About Correction Of Data/Change of Course and Institution 2017
Hi Myschoolnewz members so the process for 2017 change of institutions and other correction has started but a lot of people don't know how to go about it. I am going to be sharing my experience yesterday at Jamb Office Ikoyi, where I went to Do my Correction of data.
Upon arrival at Jamb Office Ikoyi, I was shocked to see a lot of people there also for correction, as I entered I was hearing a Lady there giving information telling students to go and pay at the bank cause online payment was down. She was also talking of some students that had gone to pay for 2016 Correction of Data instead of 2017 Correction of data, so they had to pay twice.
N.B:- 2016 correction of data is the one you find on the home page when you log on to www.jamb.org that one states you have to pay N2500 for each correction. Please don't pay for this one.
How To Get the 2017 correction of data page
Step 1- Log into your jamb profile
Step 2- open menu in your jamb profile
Step 3-Click Register, under register a drop box appear where you'll see UTME correction of data
Step 4- Click it and follow the steps to pay either online or bank.
We were told there to pay at the bank cause online payment was down.
After paying N2500 at the bank with bank charge N100 Naira, we returned to jamb office Ikoyi and they changed it for us.
Note: You can equally do this at any accredited JAMB CBT Centre
You can change your NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, STATE, INSTITUTIONS, COURSE etc with that one time fee of N2500
N.B- Make sure you go and do the Correction of data yourself because FINGERPRINT is REQUIRED.
Jamb office also charged N300 naira, so make sure you go with enough money.
Hope with this information I've been able to help someone, till next time.
Oh and one more thing rumor has it correction of data ends 28th, so hurry now.

How to Calculate your Admission point and score for 2017/18 session
WAEC/NECO: A1(6), B2(5), B3(4), C4(3), C5(2), C6(1).
For the five relevant subjects the scores are added together to get G .
Score = (G/30) x 50 = O’level points (50)
· JAMB/UTME: Jamb scores / 8 = Jamb points (50)
Add O’ level + Jamb points = Weighted Scores (100)
· For 2 sittings
The first examination based on date is taken as the template for all candidates with two sittings. The deficiency from this template is picked from the second sitting but the points from the second sitting are divided by 2.
The post UTME Screening scores will be sent via text messages and e-mails to each candidate. It can also be viewed by logging in to the Admission portal with your Jamb Registration number. The cut-off points will be available on this site within two weeks.
Note: Candidates with wrong subject combinations in either JAMB or O’level results were not scored where wrong, and will be denied admission either now or later. Candidates below 50 in weighted scores will NOT be admitted

Re: How Universities Will Conduct Admission This Year
How Universities will Conduct Admission this Year. After the recent scrapping of post utme exam by the federal government, you might be wondering how the universities will conduct admission this year.
Going by the reactions of candidates over the withdrawal of the list of candidates sent to tertiary institutions for admission consideration by JAMB, it is important we clarify a few things to avoid confusion and ensure candidates are properly guided.
So here are important things you should know and keep in mind concerning this new development;
1. The University senate now has autonomy to select candidates for admission. However the list of selected candidates must pass through JAMB for approval and issuance of admission letters.
2. Whether or not you were posted to a school or not for admission consideration earlier no longer matters. As the posting is no longer valid. All you need to do now is wait for your school of choice to announce its screening exercise and ensure you participate accordingly.
3. For Tertiary institutions that have already conducted their admission screening exercise in line with JAMB stipulations, such screening still remains valid. Candidates that participated in such screening should wait for the release of the admission list(s) by their respective institutions.
4. The withdrawal of the JAMB Consideration List does not mean that post-UTME is now valid. The ban on Post-UTME remains valid. Tertiary institutions must abide to the screening modalities as earlier announced by JAMB.
5. Candidates should note that the offer of provisional admission by their schools of choice is subject to validation by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The Joint Admission And Matriculation Board held a meeting at the B.O Ukeje Auditorium, Nation Commission for colleges of Education, Central Business District Abuja on Tuesday 28th, 29th and 30th to map out admission screening modalities for Colleges of education, polytechnics and Universities.
The meeting was chaired by the permanent secretary ministry of education, Dr. Shade Yemi-Esan.
After evaluating the screening models of some schools in previous years and other factors surrounding the admission processes in tertiary institution in the country, JAMB released a proposed model for the screening of recommended candidates.
PROPOSED JAMB MODEL FOR SCREENING OF RECOMMENDED CANDIDATES
1. Screening of candidates shall be for ONLY candidates recommended for admissions.
2. No written examination to be conducted.
3. Verification of Course Requirements (O’ levels or A’ levels).
4. Verification of valid JAMB results by checking:
i. Online Result Slip
ii. Printout
iii. Photo Album
v. Checklist
vi. Biometrics
5. Institutions are free to source from other Course(s) to
compensate for SHORTFALL in any of the criteria.
If the proposed model for admission as proposed by JAMB is to be adopted for 2016/2017 admission process, below is how the admission process will run and all you should know about it.
1. JAMB must offer a candidate an admission before such candidates qualifies for screening in the institution he or she has been provisionally admitted. This means that institutions can only screening candidates sent to them by JAMB as having been provisionally admitted in such institution.
2. Institutions admission screening processes will now be based on point system. The first on the point system is the O’level grading. Candidates who have only one O-level result will stand a better chance of gaining admission than candidates with 2 results. One 0’level result = 10marks/points while two O’level results = 3 marks/points.
Similarly, each grade will now have its equivalent points/marks in this manner; A=6 marks, B=4 marks, C=3 marks which means the having better grades in your O’level result gives you a better chance of securing admission.
The next to be considered on the point system is your UTME Score. Candidates will be awarded marks/points based on their 180-200=20-23 marks, 200-250=24-33 points, 251-300=34-43, 300-400=44-60 points. The higher your score, the higher your chances of securing admission.
This means that what we previously know as institutions cut-off-marks will now be known as institutions cut-off points which will be arrived at after putting all the aforementioned into consideration.
3. JAMB provisional admission is now a means to an end and not an end itself. This means that JAMB may offer a candidate a provisional admissions and such candidate will still be denied admission by his/her institution because he or she comes below the cut-off point for his/her course in that particular institution.
For instance you may be given provisional admission to study MBBS in UNIBEN by JAMB having obtained a UTME score of 260. If your institution’s cut-off point for medicine is 95 points and you come below that number of points after the screening, you will likely be denied admission.
4. Admission process will still put into considerations factors like catchment area and ELDS (Educationally Less Developed States) in determining the number of candidates admitted. Admission by merit is 45%, catchment area 35% and ELDS 20%.
The issue of Science to arts ratio will still be in place. For universities Science to arts ratio will be 60:40 , Polytechnics 70:30. However for specialized institutions (Technology, Science Agriculture etc) it will be 100% related to their specialty. Also 90% of admission will go to UTME candidates while 10% will go to Direct Entry candidates.
5. Schools are still at liberty to charge a certain fee for the screening of candidates. However, the Board did not stipulate how much institutions are to charge for this.
A Former Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, NUC, Professor Peter Okebukola, has disclosed that the scrapping of Post-UTME means that tertiary institutions will now go back to the agreement NUC had with Vice-Chancellors in 2004 when it introduced Post-UTME which is to screen candidates on oral interview and written essay.
He pointed out that tertiary institutions were not suppose to conduct screening for candidates similar to that of JAMB as that was the part of the agreement guiding the introduction of Post-UTME. He lamented that tertiary institutions have since deviated from that agreement.
According to him, admission seekers are supposed to attain minimum cognitive competence in the relevant subjects in the discipline they wished to study; which is the aspect JAMB examination covers and also attain competence in written and oral English, critical thinking and ability to present ideas in logical sequence which is what Post-UTME should be all about.
Because of this face, there is every reason to belief that some schools may still conduct post utme exam. However, it is important to know if you school will write post utme exam this year.
Students who applied for the school in JAMB and have met requirements (minimum of 180 in JAMB and a Credit in Maths and English including subjects relevant to your course choice) will come for the screening with their credentials. At the screening, they present their results and answer a couple of questions (orally) based on your applied course (usually basic knowledge questions) after which they await the result of this exam.
This usually means getting admission from JAMB directly (first list)…and then 2 subsequent lists from the school.
Now, here’s the catch. Getting the admission doesn’t mean you’re home free. Thousands are usually given this admission into 100 level, but they don’t get an Admission letter from the school in their 100 level, because a second screening happens in 200 level.
If a student is unable to finish 100 level with a CGPA of 2.5 (3.5 in Medicine), he or she will be screened out of the school. Only those who achieve this mark remain in 200 level and are subsequently given the school’s Admission letter.
Before the collection of this letter, it’s safe to assume that you’re not fully a University student until the end of this period of probation.
This screening usually leaves the school with at least half of the initially admitted students which is the needed population.
How will universities determine cutoff marks to admit students.
Before putme was introduced in 2005, universities have been admitting people and bringing out cutoff marks though the system varies in different schools.
Some universities used both Jamb results and o’levels points, some used only Jamb results. We are concerned about UNN and how they used to run admission when there was no putme.
Like I said, before putme was introduced UNN still used to run her admission same way she does now; the only difference is that there was nothing like an average score. As we all know, since the introduction of putme UNN makes use of an average score of putme and utme scores to determine your score for admission. The cutoff marks are determined by general performance in putme.
After the release of primary list, there will be an advertisement for supplementary form in which those that will score 180/200 and above in “PUTME” will be eligible to purchase, fill a lower course that has a lower cutoff mark than your average score and compete with others that will purchase and fill same course with you.
If you do not purchase this supplementary form, you will likely not get admission in subsequent lists called supplementary lists. There is nothing like enrolling your name in a lower course if you do not purchase the supplementary form as a compensation for not being admitted in your original course.
You must purchase the supplementary form for you to be enrolled in a lower course and not everyone who purchases the supplementary form must be admitted in a lower course you fill even when your average score is above the cutoff mark of that course you will fill, its mostly by merit for those with high scores, sorting with money for those who can afford it and also luck.
Now you have understood how UNN runs admission with putme, lets discus how UNN used to run admission without putme.
Like I said, there is no much difference. After utme (Jamb) is written, UNN maps out cutoff marks for different courses which they dont make public.
The cutoff marks are determined based on the general performance in utme. The better people perform in utme, the higher the cutoff marks and vice versa.
After the release of primary list, there will be an advertisement for supplementary form in which people who score 180/200 in utme (Jamb) and choose UNN in utme will be eligible to purchase.
During my own time when there was no putme, I entered UNN through supplementary by purchasing supplementary form then because I was cut off from my original course since I didn’t score up to the cutoff mark.
There was nothing like enrolling you into another course no matter what your score would be, you must purchase a supplementary form. Sorting of admission with money was very common then.

2017 JAMB change of course/institution has started
We have just received information that the 2017 JAMB Change of Course/Institution Process has begun.
According to the reports we received, this process can only be done at the accredited CBT Centres.
Before you head out to check if this process has started at an accredited CBT Centre around you, please ensure the following;
- That you know exactly the Changes of Course/Institution you would like to make changes to.
- Please ensure you do your research to ensure that the school you are changing to does not usually cut-off higher than your score.
- That you can change one or all your courses/institutions at the same time.
- That once the form is submitted, you can no longer make any changes again (or else the system has changed)
- That you select a Course/Institution that aligns with your subject combination.
If you don't do this, your school will screen you out.
- There may be a limited number of schools or courses you can change to, so be sure to have 3 or 4 options, just in case the one you want to change to is not available.
-
You could be charged about N2,500 to effect this change.
- Please use the Online JAMB Brochure to ensure the course you are choosing is done in your choice institution.
If you are going for this service, please use the comment section to let us know how the process is going on at your centre.

JAMB Speak on the issue of Additional 40 marks for all candidates
JAMB has debunked the rumour that the Senate has passed a bill urging the board to add extra 40 marks to candidates.
According to him, there is no bill anywhere not even a motion has been tabled before the two chambers of the National Assembly on the board’s 2017 UTME performance.
“We urge candidates to disregard all funny connotations online on their results as the board will not contemplate doing all that is being speculated as that will negate the ethics of an examination body as critical as JAMB.”
It added that the board’s major concern had always been to ensure that cheating during and after examination were reduced to zero level, and this, he said, the board had substantially achieved.
JAMB May Still Cancel Results Of Candidates Involved In Exam Malpractice
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has disclosed that through scrutiny of what transpired during the 2017 JAMB is exam is still going based on the footage of the CCTV cameras.
This was disclosed by JAMB’s Head of Media Fabian Benjamin.
According to him, once any candidate is discovered to involve in any irregularity, even if the candidate has received his or her result, the candidate will still be sanctioned for cheating during the exam.
“Those who know they were involved in any acts inimical to our examination ethics should not celebrate as their inglorious days of punishment will soon surface.” He threatened.
JAMB had earlier reported more than 10,000 candidates caught for examination malpractices in the ongoing UTME in Anambra State and have been handed over to appropriate authority.

Over 10,000 Candidates Caught Cheating In Anambra- JAMB
The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) says more than 10,000 candidates caught for examination malpractices in the on-going UTME in Anambra have been handed over to the appropriate authority.
Mrs Lynda Nwachukwu, the Coordinator of the board in Anambra disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Saturday.
NAN reports that the all computer-based testing (CBT) mode 2017 UTME, which started on May 13 in 642 centres nationwide, ended on May 20.
Nwachukwu said that the examination, which took place in 28 centres in the state, was successful.
“There was no disruption of the exercise in any of the examination centres,’’ she said.
The coordinator said that the candidates adhered strictly to the requirements of the examination, adding that JAMB provided all the materials required for the examination.
NAN correspondent, who monitored the last batch of the examination, reports that some parents complained of system failure in some CBT centres in the state.
Mrs Eucharia Okonkwo, a parent, said her daughter, who wrote the examination at the St Mary’s High School Ifite-Dunu centre, could not complete the examination due to the faulty computer and network failure at the centre.
According to her daughter, many candidates could not complete the questions in record time because of the faulty system.
Okonkwo advised JAMB to plan well for examination in subsequent years to avoid the technical hitches that could give the candidates psychological trauma.
Dr. Mose Mojekeh, Head, Department of Marketing at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, told NAN on a telephone, that such system failure in UTME was not acceptable.
According to him, the hiccups could potentially deny young people from Anambra State, university admission.
Mojekeh advised JAMB to urgently collate the number of candidates affected and set another examination for them.
He also decried the practice whereby JAMB sends officials from one state to supervise examinations in another state.
“Experience has shown that such officials do not care much about the candidates when problems arise, as they leave them to their fate,’’ the lecturer said.
He called on the management of schools, whose candidates experienced the computer failure, to take their complaints to the State Ministry of Education to present their cases.
NAN reports that the JAMB concluded its CBT on May 20. (NAN)
federal government Renames FUOYE After Late General Adebayo
President Muhammadu Buhari has renamed the Federal University, Oye Ekiti after the late military governor of the old Western Region, Major General Adeyinka Adebayo.
He made this pronouncement yesterday at the funeral service of the late General, held at All Saints Anglican Church, Iyin Ekiti.
Buhari who was represented by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo posited that the honour was done to immortalize Adebayo for his immense contributions to the unity and development of the Nigerian nation.
He said: “This is a celebration of life of sacrifice and dedication to one’s community and nation. General Adebayo was a fine gentleman and the 1st indigenous Chief of Army Staff who Mr. President had harmonious relationship with.
“To let you know how respectable this man was to President Buhari, the President personally instructed me to be here. General Adebayo had
demonstrated that one must learn how to impact on the community where he has the opportunity of serving. As a military officer, he did well and a military governor, he served the people selflessly.
“As a military officer in 1967, he fought hard to prevent the rebel
army from making incursion into Lagos, the then Federal Capital Territory. He headed the post war conciliation committee for the integration of the Igbos back to Nigeria. In fact, his military trajectory was a case study in Nigeria.
“General Adebayo did not only serve Nigeria, he served with integrity. In the struggle for democracy in Nigeria, General Adebayo was a member of National Democratic Coalition (NADECO). Since 1999, he had been encouraging southwest governors on the need to bring back the old glories, because he didn’t like the way the southwest was falling behind in education and agriculture.
“General Adebayo had left the right inheritance, and this was not money but good character and I want the coming leadership to emulate what his iconic life represented”, he concluded.
Also speaking, the primate of Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh told Nigerian leaders to eschew corruption and massive looting of the treasury, saying death will surely come one day.
Okoh who was represented by Arch Bishop, George Lasebikan described Adebayo as a man of great “Human disposition, forthright ,disciplined and focused” , saying these sterling qualities helped his career in no small measure. “Nigeria is in trouble because our leaders are self-serving.
Kwara State University Renamed, now called Olusola Saraki University
As a way to immortalise and honour the memory of the State’s first governor, the Kwara State University has been named after the late Senator Olusola Saraki.
The Kwara State government has renamed its university after the late strongman of Kwara politics, Olusola Saraki.
Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, made the announcement in Ilorin at the inauguration of the Sola Saraki Educational Foundation on Friday, May 19, 2017.
Ahmed, who declared that the Kwara State University, KWASU, would henceforth be called Sola Saraki University, explained that renaming the university was a better way of immortalising the late politician.
He said the late Waziri of Ilorin, had immense love for education as evident in his contributions to the building of several primary and secondary schools across the state.
The governor called on individuals and corporate bodies to invest in education as a way of securing the future of the children and donated N15 million for the takeoff of the foundation.
Sola Saraki was the father of Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate president. He was born on May 13, 1933 in Ilorin, Kwara State, he was until his death regarded as the “strongman of Kwara politics”. He first ran in the 1964 parliamentary election for Ilorin as an independent candidate but lost.
After the election, he returned to medical practice in Lagos, only returning to party-politics in 1978/79.
In 1977, Mr. Saraki was elected as a member of the Constituent Assembly that produced the 1979 constitution.

Jamb is not Adding or Deducting from Candidates Mark
The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has denied the rumour concerning the deduction of candidates' marks in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Dr Fabian Benjamin, the Head of JAMB Information and Media, denied the reports in a statement in Abuja advised candidates to disregard the rumour..
According to Benjamin, the rumour is false, devilish and a ploy to cause disaffection among candidates who participated in the 2017 UTME.
“It is no longer news that all our centres have CCTV camera and we have watched all proceedings at the Computer Based Test (CBT) centres across the nation.
“Those involved in any infraction will be sanctioned in accordance with the provision of the Examination Malpractice Act.
“The board has not deducted any marks from any candidate and is not contemplating doing that as it is not a condition for sanction in any of the provisions of the law against malpractice.
“Again, we call on all candidates to be mindful of fraudulent characters who will send misleading information to create panic and take advantage of the situation to defraud them”.
He advised candidates to login to check the result with their registration number or with email address and urged candidates with any challenge not to hesitate to contact the board or check the organisation’s Website for detailed information and numbers for enquiries
We Have Not Extended 2017 UTME Registration Deadline - JAMB

This as disclosed by the Head of JAMB Information and Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin in a statement issued to newsmen on Friday in Abuja.
He urged candidates and parents to disregard the rumour on extension of the date of registration.
According to him, “The Board has closed registration and there is no plan to extend the date.
“The registration has not been extended except for those who had pins but couldn’t register as at May 5, when we closed registration.
“These categories of Nigerians are allowed to register and a date will be set aside for them to write their examination.” He stated.

JAMB Releases 1,048,914 Results, Extends Registration
The Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, yesterday in Lagos said that out of the 1,648,429 million candidates writing the ongoing UTME, the results of 1,048,914 have been released.
This was just as he also announced the extension of JAMB’s portal for registration, adding that it will finally close its registration portal on 28th May.
He said that in addition to the 1,048,914 results that have been released, over 30,406 results are also ready for upload before midnight today.
He said: “As at today, 1,648, 429 are taking our examination and we have released the result of 1,048,914. That is the result we have released up till yesterday.
“On the first day, we released the results of Sunday because anything you call CBT, the results are ready, but for environmental reasons, we do not release the results immediately.
“That is to ensure we go through the CCTV camera to see whether there are report of malpractice and prevent the situation whereby those who do not pass become agitated at the CBT centres.
“We have released the results of Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and we are going to release today’s result before 12 midnight. This morning, the results of 30,046 will be release.
Asked the performances of candidates results so far, he said: “The candidates have not done badly from the results released so far.” As soon as the last person finished writing the last paper today, we will upload additional over 30,406 results before 12 midnight today.”
Oloyede, also disclosed that JAMB’s portal for registration has not closed, adding that it will finally close its registration portal on 28th May. He said that he got the mandate from the Senate few weeks ago to increase the UTME registration period by one month, which according to him will elapse on 28th of May. “As I speak, we have registered additional 1,100 candidates,” he added.
Oloyede who disclosed during this during his visit to one of the CBT Centres in Lagos said that in 2018, fingers print may no longer be required.
He explained: We have now been able to catch those people who registered two people with the same names. The impersonator and the one being impersonated went in collaboration with the CBT centres after screening them.”
He said: “Both the impersonator and one being impersonated used each fingers.
While, the impersonator used two thumb fingers, the impersonated used eight fingers to register.
Thus, we have ten registered fingers and the ten fingers were not from one person.
“In some centres, when we tested all their fingers, we discovered that they were impersonator who had used two of their fingers thumbs in both hands.
“By next year, we may not use finger print, there are other technologies whereby with the technology, everything about the candidate is captured. We need to move in that direction.”
Jamb disqualified cbt centres, reveals plans for mega centres
The Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof . Is - haq Oloyede , has disqualified some centres currently being used for its ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination .
He also announced the examination body ’ s resolve to collaborate with key stakeholders to establish mega centres for the conduct of its examination.
Oloyede announced this at a news conference in Lagos on Thursday , after on - the - spot assessments of some Computer - Based Testing centres where the UTME was being conducted in the city .
He said he was not impressed with the standards of facilities at some of the centres , adding that the Board needed to be more stringent.
According to him , most of the centres currently being used for the examination fell short of the standards .
“ Having gone round 69 centres in Lagos alone , I have disqualified four .
“ In fact , I do not see up to 30 of these centres being up - to - date and meeting our set rules. We will re - assess these centres in order to protect the sanctity of our examination, ’’ the registrar said .
“ The plan currently on ground is to collaborate with my colleague professors and some other key stakeholders on how to create mega centres with a capacity to sit about 1 , 500 candidates at once in a centre .
“ We will encourage those who have what it takes to establish CBT centres to do it.
“ This is because we no longer want to work with some private centre owners , ’’ he added .

fraudsters sell fake Jamb questions for N200,000
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said some fraudsters are currently swindling candidates of the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination by selling fake examination questions to them for as much as N200 , 000 .
The JAMB Registrar , Prof Is - haq Oloyede , disclosed this on Monday during a briefing , adding that thousands of candidates who chose the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology , Ogbomoso , Oyo State , as their centre , would be moved to Kwara State , because of the ongoing protests by the student union of the institution .
Oloyede , who held the briefing after monitoring the UTME in some centres in Abuja , was accompanied by the Minister of State for Education, Prof Anthony Anwukah .
The JAMB registrar noted that the fraudsters took UTME past question papers and changed the date to the present year , selling to gullible candidates .
He said , “ On Monday morning , somebody sent me some questions . The syndicate behind it called it Orijo , and a candidate bought it for N200 , 000 . When I saw it, it was our questions in 1984 and the syndicate simply put 2017 on it. They started selling the questions and people were buying it.
“ So , if candidates are corrupt , JAMB cannot have sympathy . The syndicate is smart . They went into the UTME past questions and just changed the heading . Another person called me and said he had all the UTME questions . I just laughed when I checked the item, because some dubious persons are making money from gullible candidates .
“ As of Monday , about 440 , 000 candidates have taken the examination. We have finished in some states and some states will continue on Thursday . But by Friday, we should be over .
“ We understand the case in LAUTECH . We have taken care of our two centres on the campus . Arrangements are being made to transfer the students , because there are no private CBT centres in Ogbomoso . If the workers and students do not call off their strike in Ogbomoso by Tuesday , we will reschedule all the registered candidates there to Ilorin , Kwara State . ”
JAMB reschedules UTME in Ogbomoso
Candidates seeking to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology , Ogbomoso , on Monday were disappointed as students of the school prevented them from gaining access to the two centres located within the university. Our correspondent learnt these were the only centres in Ogbomoso .
This is just as the Head, Public Affairs , Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board , Mr . Fabian Benjamin , said that the candidates were likely to sit for the examination in Ilorin , Kwara State .
It was learnt that students of the institution had, as early as 7 am , barricaded the gates of the university, vowing that the UTME would not hold until academic activities in the school resumed . The students also prevented teaching and non - teaching staff of the institution from entering the school
Efforts to speak to the school registrar , Jacob Agboola , was not successful but a member of staff of the school , who did not want his name in print because he is not authorised to speak on behalf of the management , said the authority of the school had a meeting with JAMB officials where an alternative was decided .
He said , “ After the students refused to open the gates, the school authority had a meeting with JAMB officials for a long time. Several alternatives were weighed before it was decided that today ’ s ( Monday ) batches of candidates will have to be joined with Tuesday ’ s batches . However , they have to use an alternative venue because we do not want anything to happen to the candidates . We want to try as much as possible to manage this situation so that it will not degenerate into violence . ”
Speaking to one of our correspondents , Benjamin , however , said that JAMB did not cancel the centres .
He said , “ We did not cancel the centres . Students of the university blocked the road and said they would not allow candidates to write the examination. There is no other centre in the town .
“ We are rescheduling because this is not the fault of the candidates. Again we want to reiterate that we did not post any candidate outside his or her town of choice as expressed in their application , contrary to reports in some quarters . Candidates are always allowed to make a choice of examination town while we allocate centres within the town chosen by a candidate . ’’
Benjamin also denied the report that there were no closed circuit televisions in centres . “We deployed CCTV in all our centres . These are not so visible equipment but we deployed CCTV in all our centres , ’’ he said .
One of the LAUTECH students , who preferred anonymity , told one of our correspondents on the telephone that the students embarked on the action to draw attention of the two owner states to its poor condition .
She said , “ The school was closed for several months and it took the bold step of the students who staged a protest at the Oyo State secretariat in Ibadan before the state government took an action . After resumption of activities in the school , the condition has remained the same.
“ Locking the gate today against JAMB candidate was an opportunity to call on the two states to pay attention to the school . We have nothing against the candidates because we were in a similar position some years ago . Perhaps , what we are agitating for will one day benefit them and those who will come after them. ”
