Computer-Based Test not scrapped – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said that it has no plan to dump the Computer -based Test for candidates sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination .
The board has also said that its ‘ 8 keys without a mouse programme’ was introduced to make the examination easier for candidates using computers for the first time.
Head of Information , JAMB , Mr . Fabian Benjamin , said this in a statement on Thursday in reaction to a media report .
Benjamin , who said that the report was “ capable of causing panic ’’ , said JAMB could not have scrapped the CBT and still introduced the ‘ 8 keys without a mouse ’ programme.
He asked , “ On what platform will the eight keys be placed?’’
The CBT was partially introduced in 2013 with 100 , 000 candidates choosing the option out of 1 . 8 million candidates who sat for the examination.
But the JAMB had gradually phased out the PPT, finally conducting an e -testing for all candidates in 2014 .
While calling on Nigerians and candidates to disregard the report , JAMB said , “ In our attempt to make CBT friendly, the board introduced the use of eight keys without a mouse .
At the meeting in Kaduna , the JAMB registrar restated the board ’ s determination to continue to innovate on policies that will ease the phobia for computer - based test , one of which is the introduction of the use of “8 keys without a mouse . ’’
